HOW TO GAIN MORE PROFILE FOLLOWERS

The social network as we know it, is all about connection and communication, and today it seems to be about the a common word “follow”. The word as it is now, is virtually being used by all major networking sites like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook among others. Some days ago, I saw these facts about twitter which inspired me to write this post. Thus:

30 year old singer, Katy Perry (@katyperry) has highness the number of followers with 74-million+ followers.

Seconded by 21 year old fellow singer, Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) with 66million+ followers.

Third is the U.S President’s (@barackobama) with 63million+ followers

The fourth being 25 year old American singer & actress, Taylor Swift’s (@taylorswift13) 62 million+ followers.

The fifth is 29 year old Stefani A. Germanotta, popularly known as Lady Gaga (@ladygaga) garnering about 49 million followers.

Oh, seems interesting, especially considering their age, maybe in exception of the U.S President who is 51 years old, though still a youth. How did they all reach that feat? Let me show you; it’s exposed.

INFLUENCE- That’s it! They were just able to influence minds through what they do; the more the influence, the more the followers. Take for example, Nigeria’s hip-hop artistes, Wizkid and Davido both adding over 900,000 Twitter followers in the space of two years, 2013 to 2015. Imagine the influence of their songs today on many Nigerians to have added up such number in the short period. How many followers do you also have and what are you doing to gain more profile followers?

I am not just writing on how to gain followers on your social media profiles alone, though it matters, but also talking about gaining more followers to your heavenly profile. Christians have by far made the mistake of having a wrong idea about social network, claiming it is corruptive while the devil keeps enlarging his tentacles through it. Jesus has 2.1 billion+ followers, credit to being social. He used everything common in His generation to gain some while He was very much around with them… When they introduced magic, He introduced miracles; when they introduced philanthropy, He introduced love; when School of Law was common, He brought about Seminars/Conference; so tell me, if He is to be around again, would He not improvise on the use of social media?

If we who are called Christians fail to rise to influence the world through what is common to our generation (social media), then satan, the prince of the world will influence his people for its effective usage, just as they do now. We need leaders today, like Apostle Peter, who gained about 5000 followers for Christ in just a day; like Daniel, who brought almost the whole Nation to follow God. Although there are some leaders striving to strengthen their profiles (heavenly and socially) through what they do but quite few of them, examples including Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, T.D Jakes, John Maxwell, Sam Adeyemi, E.A Adeboye, Dayo Israel… you can also join the list if you rise to the call.

You can learn more about influence in my next ad, however, it is needful to understand now that it takes someone at the top of a pit to lift up someone in the pit. Remember Jesus’ words when He saw a glorious future for Himself, He said, “If I be lifted up from the earth, I’ll draw men to follow me” (emphasis added). Will you also be able to say in true conscience, that, “If I be lifted up, I’ll draw men to follow Jesus as I am”?

WHO IS 2FACE?

Were you hoping to see the 'Tubaba" you used to know? I mean the popular Nigerian Hip hop artiste by the name Innocent Idibia. Well, have you for once, thought about why he has chosen that stage name 'Tuface" or better still 2face... maybe you haven't. But let us consider who is really '2-FACE'.

When you say someone is 2face, what you are simply saying is that the person is of two different or opposite natures; however, a man is who he appears to be. Moreover, 2face has to do with the character of a person and character is what really defines who a man is and from that idea, it is right to use make examples from movie actors and actresses whom are regarded characters in their screenplays, as good examples of 2-face. You agree, majority of them are not, on the outside who they are in the movies they feature. You could imagine a character in a movie playing the role of a happy husband and father while in his 'real life' he is actually a divorced man - He is a good example of 2FACE.

Many of these people really lack integrity as we can see from the nature of the industry today and that's why the Greeks who developed drama could give the name 'hypokrites' to those who could play different roles at a time. This is the word from which we get the English word hypocrite. Similarly, the word hypocrisy comes from the Greek word hypokrisis, meaning "acting on the stage, pretense," from hypokrinesthai, meaning "play a part, pretend." Need to know also that in its original form,"hypocrite" was not a negative term; it merely referred to the actors who were mark on the stage while playing multiple parts. However, the term evolved into the idea of a person of "many faces"-someone whose real identity was not what it appeared to be.

In same vein, don't you consider the person in the picture above as 2face? These two pictures merged together were taken in the same year, even around the same season, over 10 years ago. On the left is a Bible school Certificate graduate while on the right is an upcoming tout- at the same period of time. Appearing before parents and siblings as a gentle, calm and responsible boy even with much knowledge of the scriptures, though without wisdom (right application of knowledge), while in the face of friends and mates as an arrogant, stubborn and useless boy toying with his future. He was just 2FACE.

Are you also a 2face or you don't even know if you are. Well, if you are, the day your two-face is exposed to the people, that day, you have lost your value before them and better to understand that ONLY Jesus Christ can help you fight addiction and it is better you lose face before man than before God. However, if you don't even know how people see you, do a simple evaluation by asking for sincere opinions of your personality from different sets of people who can at least, say one or two things about you but if you are not, You can also help any 2face you know by sharing with him/her. Dr. Myles Munroe once wrote, character is who you are on the inside while reputation is who you are on the outside. Are you actually trying to save your reputation at the detriment of your character? TIME TO RE-THINK!

Remember the words of Jesus, it is better to go to heaven with one eye than to go to hell where the whole body will be burnt. Matt 5:29.
