THE SUPERIORITY OF A FISHERMAN OVER A BUSINESSMAN

One day, a fisherman was lying on a beautiful beach with his fishing pole propped up in the sand, and his solitary line cast out into the sparkling blue surf. He was enjoying the warmth of the afternoon sun and the prospect of catching a fish. About that time, a businessman came walking down the beach, trying to relieve some of his workday. Then, he noticed the fisherman sitting on the beach and decided to find out why this fisherman was fishing, instead of working harder to make a living for himself and his family.

"You aren't going to catch many fish that way" said the businessman to the fisherman. You should be working rather than lying on the beach!"

The fisherman looked up at the businessman, smiled and replied, "And what will my reward be?"

Well, you can get bigger nets and catch more fish!" the businessman answered.

"And then, what will my reward be?" asked the fisherman, still smiling.

The business replied, "You will make money and you'll be able to buy a boat, which will then result in larger catches of fish!"

"And then, what will my reward be?" asked the fisherman again.

The businessman was beginning to get a little irritated with the fisherman's questions. "You can buy a bigger boat, and hire some people to work for you!" he said.

"And then, what will my reward be?" repeated the fisherman.

The businessman was getting angry. "Don't you understand? You can build up a fleet of fishing boats, sail all over the world, and let all your employees catch fish for you!"

Once again, the fisherman asked, "And then what will my reward be?"

The businessman was red with rage and shouted at the fisherman, "Don't you understand that you can become so rich that you will never have to work for your living again. You can spend the rest of our life sitting on this beach looking at the sunset. You won't have a care in the world!"

The fisherman, still smiling, looked up and said, "And what do you think I am doing right now?"

TRUE LIFE STORY ON LOVE AND FAITH

There is a true story of a small village in India, and in this village, there was a family that came to a saving faith in Christ Jesus, the Messiah. This caused a serious agitation in the village and everyone in the village became so obsessed, that an angry mob, gathered them and shot them into the public square.

Then, the village confronted them and said to the man; if you and your family will not renounce your faith, you all will die today.
The man didn't know what to say or even do. He was awed with the action of the people. The only thing that came to his mind which he said was, "I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back".

With that, horrifically, right in his face with his wife, they watched their children killed.

He was then given another chance and now, with his wife's life on the line. Then he went on to say; "though no one joins me, still I will follow".

As you may expect, so also was his wife executed.

After her death, he was given a last chance; this time, to save himself. However, he sang on; "the cross before me, the world behind me... no turning back.". And he was also executed as he sang on.

Though he and his family had been executed, something remarkable happened that day.

A seed was planted in the heart of the village chief and that seed grew overtime and eventually, he called the village together in that very same neighborhood and the same square. Right there and then, he renounced his former faith and declared his allegiance to Jesus Christ. The celebration experienced in the village that moment was heavenly and thereafter, the gospel kept flourishing and growing in the community and to the entire region because they had seen real faith and they knew the true character of God (LOVE) because of a family that believed and sacrificed their lives, even under the penalty of death. And that was how the popular the popular Christian hymn, "I have decided to follow Jesus" was birthed to life in Assam, India.

CAN YOU DO THE SAME IF IN THE SAME SITUATION?

As Christians, we are not saved just to be safe; we are saved to save others. How we are made to do so is what differs. Moreover, next time you sing, sing with lyrical understanding.

JUST DAMN IT; I DON'T CARE!!!

You can like me if you wish, you can love me if you want, you can hate me if you will, but how does that really affect me? It doesn't really change me from who I am nor help me turn my focus on who I'm becoming. I really don't care. So, what do I care about?

I don’t care” is an attitude turned up by many when they are questioned or faced on issues they are not interested in. Once upon a time, I joined an organization and after few weeks of being with them, I started seeing administrative problems which I am not always happy or comfortable about. Then I started asking questions from those who had been there for at least a year, only for them to say words like “As for me, I don’t care what happens, let them do as they like”. These words hurts me; I am never happy hearing such. We are agents of change, so wherever we get to, we need to cause a positive change.

Now, your will does not matter; it is not about whether you want to do it or not; I don’t care whether you like to do it or not; it is written in the scripture, “it is a sin when someone knows the right thing to do and doesn’t do it” (James 4:17). Therefore, take aside your philosophies and principles, take away your beliefs, take away your religion; this has nothing to do with the subject of doing the right thing. Don’t do it for any other reason, just do it, because it is the right thing to do, even according to the law of God.

GET IT RIGHT NOW!

A LUTA CONTINUA [MUST READ]

A luta continua (in English: the struggle continues), was the rallying cry during Mozambiques's war for independence, by the FRELIMO movement leader, Samora Machel, who later became the first president of an independent Mozambique in 1975. The phrase, which has been very dominant in Nigeria also from year to year has now become an house hold word, especially amongst youths and I used to be in the clique of those who also believes "the struggle continues" until I found my way out and my I chose not to be a struggler nor hustler. However, my struggles did not end just at the point of going out of the shores of Nigeria to experience a different culture beyond the continent of Africa, my struggles ended prior to the time, and I am willing to share with you how I ended mine and I believe if you apply these two principles, your struggles are definitely soon to end this new year.

Firstly; Trust the Lord completely and don't ever trust yourself. Take note of the word completely; not half way nor with an iota of doubt but completely. If you want favor with both God and man, wherever you go this year, and a good reputation for good sense of judgment in all you do all through the year, then, this is the way to go.

Secondly, in everything you do, put God first. The key word I want you to note in this second principle is the word "everything". Don't God first only in the difficult things; don't put Him first only in the hard moments; don't put in first only in time of recession, but in everything. Even in those things that seems too easy to solve or handled, you have to put Him first. By doing this, He also would direct you and crown EVERYTHING with success.

It's a new year, be careful what you profess; words either kill you or make you alive.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
