HOW MANY WOULD DO THIS?

I have always believed, doing the right thing is not a matter of religion or situation, it is rather a matter of your DECISION. You have decided to do whatever you do, whether right or wrong. People may call you stupid or call you blessed, it doesn't really compare to what God calls you for what you have done.

Here is a taxi driver who returned a briefcase containing Dh1.7 million (202.3 million naira) to its thankful owner said on Sunday it was not the first time a passenger had left cash in the back of his car.

Pakistani Naseerallah Sher Dola returned a briefcase containing the money and documents to a South Korean businessman, as previously reported by The National.

On Sunday, he recalled that last year he did the same for an Iranian man who had left a briefcase containing Dh50,000 in his taxi.

In the most recent example of his trustworthiness, the 30-year-old was given a certificate of gratitude plus Dh2,000 from Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority, and Dh1,000 from the businessman.

"It felt good that I was recognised for my honesty, however, it’s part of my job and my duty as a devout Muslim to be honest and always do the righteous thing," said the driver, who supports his siblings, his mother, wife and their three children with his Dh3,000-a-month wages.

He had picked up the Iranian man from Sharjah airport last year. "I returned the briefcase as well, and I was told that it contained Dh50,000," said Mr Dola.

The South Korean businessman had also been picked up at Sharjah airport.

"I was shocked to know that he had this amount of money in his forgotten briefcase. The businessman came to Sharjah airport and told me to take him to Deira in Dubai at about 12pm," said Mr Dola.

"He had two suitcases in the trunk and the briefcase that he forgot was in the back seat of my taxi. It seems that he was in a hurry and forgot it.

"Once I drove back to the airport and found the bag, I immediately reported it to the taxi office at the airport, and then they contacted the police to find the man."

Mr Dola hails from Peshawar, where his wife and family members share a home.

DO THE RIGHT THING ALWAYS, IT DOESN'T MATTER WHETHER YOU WILL BE REWARDED FOR IT OR NOT - IT IS A QUESTION OF YOUR INTEGRITY

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE PICTURE?

Have you seen this picture?

There have been quite many controversies, accusations, condemnation and the likes across Twitter for a few days now about the lady's intention. Some said, she is abusing the scripture; some said she is mocking the christian faith; some said jokingly that she wants to get 'smokingly' high while some said she really wants to learn from the reading.

What about you, what do you think and have to say about it?

ANOTHER RESTRICTION ON NIGERIANS

Dubai Government has now placed some restrictions on Nigerian nationalities from entering the country, especially our youths as the immigration of Dubai is now denying some young applicants entry. According to them, tourist visas (1 & 3 months) will be given if applicant is to be accompanied by family (with certified proofs). However, service visa (2 weeks) will be given if applicant is more than 30 years (for females) and 20 years for male. Na only us waka come?

The way it seems, Ugandans are increasing in population than Nigerians living in Dubai but why is Nigeria always the problem? There's more to say about the Ugandans, Kenyans and the likes but I focus on my Nigeria for today. About 70% of Nigerian females in Dubai within the age of 20 and 35 are either full time or part time professional prostitutes while 65% of the males are logical thieves and scams, yet both without residency permits. It has now gotten to the stage where companies prefer other African nationalities to Nigerians due to fear. In fact, It has become a slang that, "1 Nigerian - 1 problem; 2 Nigerians - 2 problems; 3 Nigerians - company kalas (finished)" This is why it is very rare seeing two to three Nigerians working together in a company; if seen, must be such a petty job. Very few get good office jobs and even trusting them is a problem.

Yet in all of these, many Nigerian youths still force their way out of the country due to desperation and unemployment. United states is hard, U.K seems difficult and/or expensive to get through, Malaysia, Qatar etc seem to have tightened their security on Nigerians, where else? We will get to figure out very soon. My concern is not the desperation neither is it the economic recession as they say, nor the government, my question is... WHERE IS OUR PRIDE & DIGNITY? WHERE IS THE HONOR? WHERE IS OUR INTEGRITY? The Nigerian image is not anyway getting better everywhere but if it will ever get better, it's in the hands of the youths. With about 80 million youths in the country, we are more than enough to bring about the CHANGE we desire and deserve. Now, I think we have sang enough of the first stanza of our National Anthem, it's high time we started singing the second stanza as that may help us in our present situation... I SPEAK!

Oh God of creation

Direct our Noble cause

Guide our leaders right

Help our YOUTHS the truth to know

In love and honesty to grow

And living just and true

Great lofty heights attain

To build a nation where peace

And justice shall reign.

BY THIS TIME TOMORROW

I was the one who read it out to the church loudly, as our guest minister Pastor Timi Osikoya (now Orokoya), the iconic TELEMI gospel singer declared prophetically from the scripture as to the economy of Samaria, in reference to the Nigeria economy, "BY THIS TIME TOMORROW, A DOLLAR SHALL BE EQUAL TO A NAIRA" but I noticed the Amen sounded feverish so to say.

Then I looked at it critically; Would a Nigerian living and working oversea; in the United States, Europe or even South Africa pray or wish that a Dollar equals to a Naira? Even though many have decided to make the foreign land their permanent resident as almost all strive for citizenship in these countries, they still have some commitments they respond to down in Nigeria, hence, majority wouldn't pray or say amen to such prayer. Yet, they all seem to act as concerned citizens of Nigeria wherever they are.

Today, the country is singing the change anthem but the airports have not been anyway less full as many claim to be seeking greener pastures (though I'm yet to see a national flag with green dominance as the Nigerian flag), then I asked myself, what do we really want, CHANGE IN GOVERNMENT OR A BETTER NIGERIA?

Nonetheless, I know Nigeria will be better as much as I know my name.

MY MOTHER

There are too many stories to tell, too many write-ups to post, too many songs to sing, too many testimonies to share, all in a bid to celebrate my rare inestimable jewel. I can only render this suitable poem...

Who sat and watched my infant head
When sleeping on my cradle bed,
And tears of sweet affection shed?
My Mother.

When pain and sickness made me cry,
Who gazed upon my heavy eye,
And wept for fear that I should die?
My Mother.

Who taught my infant lips to pray
And love God’s holy book and day,
And walk in wisdom’s pleasant way?
My Mother.

And can I ever cease to be
Affectionate and kind to thee,
Who wast so very kind to me,
My Mother?

Ah, no! the thought I cannot bear,
And if God please my life to spare
I hope I shall reward they care,
My Mother.

When thou art feeble, old and grey,
My healthy arm shall be thy stay,
And I will soothe thy pains away,
My Mother.

Mum, truly the world may celebrate your persona and values but I can confidently say that you're worth much more than many could know or say about you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM... I LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK. #GloryAhead
